Many people reference intuition, but few understand it. It’s a powerful tool available to everyone, and yet most are blind to it. But learning to recognize and follow your intuition is a super power.

The Basics of Intuition
To get us started, allow me to clarify what I mean by “intuition.” Intuition is the ability to comprehend something without conscious reasoning—it’s that gut feeling or instinctive knowing that guides us, often without us even realizing it. Contrary to popular belief, intuition isn’t some mystical gift reserved for a select few; rather, it resides within each and every one of us, nestled within our subconscious minds.
Our subconscious absorbs billions of pieces of information daily, far beyond what our conscious mind can fathom. While our conscious awareness can only grasp a fraction of this input, our intuition taps into this wealth of information, and is able to offer us insights and guidance that our analytical mind would never be able to provide.
This is why your intuition is so invaluable as a resource. Many people confuse intuition with the clares or developing what some call a sixth sense. Developing the clares is also available to everyone but more of an advanced skill. It involves tapping into guidance from your Higher Self. If you’d like to learn more on developing your clares, I have a free training here.
Building Your Intuition Muscle
So, how can you tap into this innate reservoir of wisdom and enhance your intuitive abilities? It all begins with recognition and practice. Here are some actionable steps to help you kickstart your journey of developing your intuition:
- Acknowledge Your Intuition: The first step is recognizing that you already possess intuition—it’s simply a matter of nurturing and refining it. Understand that intuition manifests differently for each individual, whether as a gut feeling, a sudden insight, or a subtle knowing.
- Set Your Intentions: Intention is the most powerful thought form. Before beginning to build your awareness to recognize intuitive insights, set a clear intention that you are open to receiving guidance from your subconscious.
- Craft Open-Ended Questions: Formulate open-ended questions, using words like “how” or “what,” to prompt your subconscious to provide meaningful insights.
- Let it Go: Once you’ve come up with your question, let it go. Insights will come when you aren’t actively thinking about it. Frequently, you may receive insights when you are engaged in repetitive, mindless activities such as driving, walking, washing dishes, etc. Being in water is also a good conductor of intuitive insights.
- Trust the Process: Embrace a mindset of openness and curiosity, free from attachment to specific outcomes. Trust that intuitive guidance will come in its own time and in unexpected ways.
The Benefits of Intuition
If this sounds like a lot of work, remember that intuition is a skill. Just like any skill, you will need to be intentional in practicing and allowing it to become stronger. There are many benefits to enjoy. Consider some of these as an incentive to develop your own intuition:
